I. Introduction to the Discipline

The teaching objectives and features of the Chinese Language and

Literature at Lukang High School are as follows:

Lukang is a cultural ancient city, rich in humanities and flourishing in commerce. During the Qing Dynasty, it thrived due to convenient trade, resulting in economic prosperity. Residents had high levels of education, and the culinary culture reflected diverse tastes and ethnicities, featuring various pastries and unique delicacies. Lukang High School offers the "Lukang Studies" program, bringing together expert teachers in Chinese, natural sciences, geography, and history, and providing students with the education of diverse cultures.

  "National Lukang Senior High School's Chinese Language and Literature department is dedicated to integrating classical and modern literature into teaching activities. Through the combination of classic literary masterpieces and contemporary literature, students are trained to 'learn through literature,' nurturing a rich literary foundation and fostering holistic development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, group participation, and aesthetics."

II.Objectives:

1. Enhance proficiency in reading, appreciating Chinese classical novels, writing in various styles, and effective oral communication skills.

2. Foster an interest in reading classical Chinese and simple ancient texts to deepen appreciation for traditional culture.

3. Study cultural classics to instill awareness of social ethics and the  spirit of mercy towards others into students.

4. Read high-quality extracurricular materials to enhance literary appreciation and sharpen writing skills, expanding perspectives on life, and strengthening humanistic concerns.

5. Through Chinese language education, cultivate students who are attuned to contemporary living environments and respect diverse cultures as responsible modern citizens.

III. Features:

The teaching approaches are as follows:

1. Emphasis on language proficiency through comprehensive reading, writing, and oral expression.

2. Integration of classical Chinese and ancient texts to enrich cultural understanding.

3. Focus on the study of cultural classics to instill ethical awareness.

4. Promotion of extracurricular reading to stimulate literary appreciation and creativity.

5. Cultivation of a sense of responsibility towards contemporary societal and environmental issues.

At the same time, the Chinese language department offers diverse elective courses, providing students with a range of choices to study various professional fields and cultivate a rich humanistic literacy. These diverse courses include "Human Emotions in Classical Chinese Novels," "Selected Readings of Short Stories," "Reading and Living," "Wisdom of the Farmer's Almanac," "Mathematics and Writing," "Travel Literature," "Literary Life," and "Chinese Language Reinforcement." Through these varied courses, students develop writing , reading and critical thinking skills. Classes are conducted with a mix of students from different tracks in the senior high and vocational sections, fostering teamwork and collaborative abilities.
